VOLUNTEER WITH THE RED CROSS

How can you become a part of the American Red Cross?  A great way to find out is to have personalized Volunteer Orientation with our Volunteer Coordinator.  You will learn about the American Red Cross and the many volunteer opportunities from which you can choose to get involved. Interested?  Please contact Diana Rolland, Volunteer Services Coordinator at 258-3888, ext. 205!
Every day, the Asheville-Mountain Area Chapter of the American Red Cross helps people in emergencies, whether it's hundreds of disaster victims or one sick child who needs blood. Our vital work is made possible by people just like you, who learn how good it can feel to lend a helping hand. Red Cross "everyday heroes" are all ages and come from all walks of life. Everyone has something special to offer... including you.

Think you're too busy? We can work with you to provide rewarding experiences, whatever your schedule. Think you don't have any skills to offer? You'd be surprised. And, if you need training, we'll provide it. We depend on volunteers, who constitute 79 percent of our total work force, to carry on our humanitarian work.

  • Every year, we are there for hurricane, flood, and other disaster victims—including approximately 85 families forced from their homes by fire every year.
  • Over 26,000 Western North Carolina residents turn to us to learn first aid, CPR, swimming, and other health and safety skills. Last year, more than 400 people volunteered to teach those courses.
  • More than 20,000 pints of blood and blood products are collected annually—facilitated by 110 volunteers.
  • Among our emergency services for the men and women of the armed forces is the delivery of urgent family messages—about 300 annually.
  • Over 65 volunteers serve as chairs, members of boards of directors, or on advisory boards for our Red Cross chapter, Blood Services Region, and military stations.
  • As part of the International Red Cross Movement, we operate a Language Bank.

Don't wait another day to find out how good it feels to wear the Red Cross emblem.
