Sixteen students at Carolina Day School in the Red Cord Honors Program with the American Red Cross, are being awarded red honor cords as part of graduating exercises at the school.  The Red Cord Honors Program is designed to recognize students who made the choice to participate in the lifesaving act of blood donation at least three times during their senior year with the American Red Cross.

Any student at a high school who held a blood drive with the Carolinas Blood Services Region was eligible to participate in the Red Cord Honors Program. Students who were ineligible to donate blood due to age, weight, or medical restrictions were eligible if they actively participated as a volunteer with a Carolina Day School blood drive or another blood drive in the community at least three times during their senior year.

In addition to the Red Cord Program, the Carolinas Blood Services Region has several high school scholarship opportunities available. For more information on the Red Cord Honor Program or any of the scholarship programs, please contact Kristi Brown at 828-258-3888, Ext. 402 or go to redcrossblood.org.
